About our Church:

The main purpose of the Benevolent Church of God is to preach and teach the word of God based on the Kings James Version of the Bible.  The Benevolent Church of God has been organized as a place of worship since 1995 for all people in keeping with the Holy Scriptures (II Chronicles 7:14) "If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (Matthew 22:29) "...Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God."  (Hebrew 10:25) "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (Hebrews 13:4) "Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled...". (Proverbs 22:6) "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (III John 2) "... above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in good health, even as thy soul prospereth."  In order to fulfill these standards, we hold activities as follows:

  • The Benevolent Church of God holds worship services unto our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Pastor and or Assistant Pastor conduct all services.

  • We hold Sunday school class every Sunday which permits participants the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences. This class usually an hour. Sunday School classes are based on traditional method to teach children and adults about the Grace of God and other things as they pertain to sound Biblical teachings. Classes are separated by adults and children under 13 years of age.

  • Following Sunday school class, Sunday morning service is held. During this service, we make a joyful noise unto the Lord through songs, testimonials and praises; listen to the word of God brought forth by our Pastor or Assistant Pastor. Occasionally, we have a guess minister or missionary bring forth the word. Prayer and alter call is a critical part of this service. Tithes and offerings are collected during this service as well as any pertinent announcements shared. Sunday morning worship service usually lasts from 1.5 hours to 2 hours.

  • Every first Sunday following Morning Service, a teen issues forum is held. The purpose of this forum is to discuss issues and concerns of importance to teens and parents.

  • Second Sunday Morning service is dedicated to healing. The Healing Service is led by Pastor Rivers. We believe Divine Healing and miracles are for us today. The purpose of a healing service is to afford participants the opportunity to experience God's healing grace.

  • Every third Sunday following Morning Service, a Health Education Update is provided by a health care professional.

  • Every Second & Fourth Sunday, Communion is offered to those who desire to participate in this sacred activity in remembrance of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ's last supper with his disciples. Communion service consists of remembering the details of the last supper that Jesus had with his disciplines wherein He instructed them to "do this in remembrance of me."  We do not drink alcoholic beverage so we symbolize the last supper with grape juice and communion bread.

  • All services begin and end with prayer. Special prayer requests for the sick or troubled are accepted and the prayer of faith is prayed.

  • Family development hour is held every Thursday night  from  7pm - 8pm. The purpose of Family Development Hour is to focus on everyday family issues. Our goal is for families to maximize their potential. It is a dynamic discussion. All lessons are based on the Bible.

  • Revival services are held periodically as the Pastor is led by the Lord to call such a service.  Revival services are usually held daily for one to two weeks and average two - 3 hours per service. The focus is on renewing and refreshing one's inner spirit through rejoicing in the spirit, laying on of hands, and preaching the word of God. Individual prayer is a critical component of a Revival Service.

  • Because we know that Satan is like a roaring lion seeking whomever he can devour, we focus on family development as a critical part of our mission. Several educational programs are offered at least annually and as requested. These include: (a) developing and managing a personal budget; (b) creating and sustaining a positive marriage relationship; (3) managing stress and frustration.  Our Pastor spends much time in counseling and providing emotional support to members and their children as well as individuals in the community in need of spiritual support. All programs are FREE to members and open to the public (free of charge).

  • We sponsor a Hope for the Holidays program wherein we adopt at least 2 families in the community to provide Christmas gifts for the family. There is no requirement to be a member of the church to be selected to receive this support. The only requirement is to be in need.

  • Other activities include Baptisms, Christenings, weddings, and funerals as indicated.

  • Future activities will include a learning center including computers and tutoring support. We also hope to develop recreational programs that focus on our youth to provide alternative to hanging out and getting involved in self-destructive activities such as drugs. We also hope to increase our family development programs to include health related topics aimed at improving the health of the populations in our community. We know community based programs are successful and we would like the Benevolent Church of God to be a leader in improving the community.
