A Brand New Heart

"And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart" (Jeremiah 24:7). On December 3, 1967, South African doctor, Dr. Christiaan Barnard, performed the world's first human to human heart transplant at Groote Schuur Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa. But I want to talk about a spiritual heart transplant. Some of the churches today, and a lot of its members' hearts need to be transplanted. When the unbelievers look at the supposed-believers, and wonder why they don't practice what they preach, those believers need a heart transplant. If a believer has no love for their fellow man, and is not their brother's keeper, they need a heart transplant. When we as believers say we can lay down and pick up our religion, something is wrong, and a heart transplant needs to be performed immediately. When we know and see someone who is in dire straits, and we have the means to help and encourage, but is too stout hearted and hateful, our heart is failing us quickly and we should be at the top of the donor list for a new heart. But I want to tell you about the greatest Heart Surgeon there is and ever was. God performs heart surgery on a daily basis, and tells you what to do to keep your new heart healthy. And as an added bonus, He put His spirit in the new heart as well. We have to walk in the spirit so we won't fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). John 6:35 says, "And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." Our diet, to keep our hearts free of blockages should consist of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance (Galatians 5:22-23). And we need to medicate ourselves daily with the word of God to keep the blood flowing throughout our veins to prevent a stoney heart. The Holy Spirit will monitor our recovery from the spiritual heart transplant, and our well-being of how we treat others. Everyone on earth who has not received a spiritual heart transplant have the same prognosis-death. With a new heart and a new spirit, we have been given a clean bill of health. 2Corinthians 5:17
